As a fellow blogger on the same blog, if you are going to write nasty blogs without having the decency to write me directly but to actually post your critical blog for the world to see, you are obviously full of ego!!!!!

Hi Sherry,

A very thought provoking blog. Thank you! As a soon-to-be chemical addictions counselor (also a recovering addict), I can personally attest to how true your comments ring. For me, it usually comes down to things as simple as: Is what I am doing or contemplating on doing "life-affirming"? If it isn't, then perhaps I should come up with another plan.... The greatest gift that recovery has given to me is the knowledge that I am responsible. Whoever told us that we have made our beds and now must lay in them, lied. We all have the choice to remake that bed any time we desire to. Oddly enough, the very things we often run from are the very things we should be running towards.

Ms Gaba

How I thoroughly enjoyed your blog, I am recently a graduate with associate of arts (psychology) along with being in recovery myself, I am looking to pursue my career into helping others to recover from a hopeless state of mind, which I know so well. Thank you for this inspiration, I was meant to come across your blog.

In our modern sex-saturated world it is getting increasingly difficult for people to understand the dividing lines between actual sex addiction and other conditions, e.g. high libido, promiscuity, etc. Problems with sex arise from several sources and not all of them qualify as true addiction.

A person in the first year of recovery should choose a coach only if they want to have greater success in their program of life change. While there can be a fee involved when we engage a recovery coach in our program this fee or money out of your pocket adds to our commitment for ourself. A sponsor can only make suggestions as to what you can or should do where as a coach will put in more work by helping you find resources and be on call in a case you need them. Also a coach will try to educate and help you renew or rebuild your life. The sponsor is limited by the program they are associated with the recovery coach is not for the job of the coach is to help you find you and create a life for yourself where you are happy and a part of. while the sponsor wants the one the is sponsored to stay clean and sober or balanced they only make suggestions the coach opens doors and thus supports you in every area of your new life.

Cognitive Distortions and ruminations seem to be a very difficult pattern for many people to overcome.

Hopefully you will provide guidance on how to overcome cognitive distortions.
