September is Recovery Month. It is time to be thankful for those who have overcome addiction and a time to remember those who are still lost. To me, however, recovery month is not just about the addicted, but rather about those who have survived the addiction of another. As we know addiction is not a spectator sport. It is foolish to wait until the addicted get into treatment to deal with your own issues. Think about it. We are waiting for someone who is in an altered state of consciousness to make a rational decision. And, while we are waiting relationships fall apart, children grow up and emotional wounds get deeper. All who are impacted by addiction deserve to be part of Recovery Month. Have a good month.
